Mission

Why I'm Building Parked Plastic

Parked Plastic exists to help disc golfers buy, sell, and trade used discs and gear more easily, locally, and year-round.

Help unused discs find new bags.

Why Parked Plastic Exists

As a disc golfer, I know how quickly plastic piles up. Some discs become trusted throwers. Some are backups. Some came from mystery boxes, trades, or impulse buys. And some just sit in a bin, waiting for the right person to put them back in play.

At the same time, other players are looking for affordable plastic, specific molds, beginner-friendly discs, replacements for lost favourites, or just a good local deal.

The discs are already out there. The challenge is connecting the right buyer with the right seller.

I created Parked Plastic to make that connection easier. Instead of digging through old Facebook posts, chasing comment threads, or waiting for the next annual Swap'n'Sell, players can browse local listings, search for what they want, and connect directly with other disc golfers in their area.

My Core Purpose

To make used disc golf gear easier to find, easier to sell, and easier to keep in circulation.

I believe used discs still have value. Not just financial value, but playing value. A disc sitting in storage could be someone else's first driver, favourite approach disc, backup tournament putter, or replacement for one they lost in the woods.

What I Believe

Community Comes First

Parked Plastic is being built by a disc golfer, for disc golfers. My goal is not to replace local disc golf culture. My goal is to support it.

Plastic Should Keep Moving

Unused discs should not stay parked forever. Selling used gear can make disc golf more affordable, more accessible, and more sustainable.

Simple Beats Complicated

Buying and selling used discs should not be a headache. Listings should be clear, searching should be useful, and connecting with sellers should be straightforward.

Local Connections Matter

Disc golf is local at heart. Local listings mean easier meetups, fewer shipping hassles, lower costs, and stronger community ties.

Build With Honesty

Parked Plastic is not a giant company. It is a growing project with a clear purpose: solving a real problem in the disc golf community.

The Long-Term Vision

My long-term vision is for Parked Plastic to become the go-to used disc golf marketplace for local disc golf communities.

I want players to be able to open Parked Plastic, choose their city, and quickly see what discs and gear are available nearby.

A 24/7, year-round Swap'n'Sell for disc golfers everywhere.

Who It's For

Sellers

Players with extra discs, bins of unused plastic, backup molds, collector discs, or gear they no longer need.

Buyers

Players looking for affordable discs, specific molds, local deals, beginner-friendly options, or replacements for discs they love.

Local Communities

Communities that already love the swap-meet experience but need something that works all year long.

Start With Your Local Marketplace

Thunder Bay is the first Parked Plastic community. As the site grows, I want to keep improving trust, searchability, seller tools, buyer experience, and local community features.

Request Parked Plastic for Your City

Thunder Bay is the first Parked Plastic community, but I want this to grow one useful local marketplace at a time. If you want Parked Plastic in your city, send me a note with the city, local disc golf scene, and any clubs or groups that might be interested.

About the Builder

Parked Plastic is created and maintained by Janne Ovaska. I'm building it as a practical tool for disc golfers, and I want feedback from the people who actually use it.

I'm a business consultant and web developer who started playing disc golf in 2020. I quickly fell in love with the sport, and now I spend more time than I'd like to admit practicing and trying to improve my game.

I'm partly building Parked Plastic as a selfish project to solve my own pain points around finding discs and other gear I want. I also love being a disc golf ambassador, and I'm always looking for ways to introduce new players and help grow the sport.
